I write and teach fiction.
My short stories have appeared in The O. Henry Prize Stories, New England Review, Witness Magazine, The Southern Review, Southwest Review, and other publications. I am completing a novel about a Lebanese-American photojournalist. In support of this project, I have received fellowships from the MacDowell Colony, the Ragdale Foundation, the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, and the Virginia Commission for the Arts.
I am a graduate of the MFA program in fiction at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. I live in the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia and teach creative writing workshops at James Madison University.
